The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft gets a splash of color with new Fig variant

When Amazon unveiled its new Kindle Scribe lineup last year, marketing images showcased a plum-colored Kindle Scribe Colorsoft model. But when the device launched on December 10, that finish wasn’t available. So far, Amazon has only offered the e-reader in a single gray colorway, but that’s set to change soon.

Amazon has now confirmed that the “Fig” variant of the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft will go on sale on January 28. Hardware-wise, it will be identical to the Graphite model, with the only differences being the new back-panel finish and the color-matched bezel and pen.

Like the Graphite variant, it features an 11-inch Colorsoft display with an adjustable front light and comes in 32GB and 64GB storage options. Pricing also remains unchanged, with the 64GB model already listed on Amazon at $679.99.

Why you should get the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is currently the best Kindle in Amazon’s lineup, offering faster performance and an updated software experience. It features a revamped home screen with Quick Notes support, Google Docs and Microsoft OneDrive integration, an AI-powered notebook with search and summarize capabilities, multiple pen and highlighter colors, a new shader tool for artists, and support for Alexa+.

It’s Colorsoft display features a new texture-molded glass that offers better friction for a more natural, paper-like feel when writing or sketching. Amazon has also included a new front-light system with miniaturized LEDs that offer more uniform illumination, along with a redesigned display stack that reduces parallax. The e-reader runs on a new quad-core chip and packs more memory, making writing and page turns up to 40% faster than its predecessor.

If you’re looking for an e-reader that also doubles as a digital notebook, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is a strong choice. You can grab the Graphite model right away for $629.99, or, if you prefer a splash of color, snag the Fig variant when it launches later this month.
