This gaming handheld will let you carry a massive 8-inch screen in your pocket

While foldable phones still account for a tiny fraction of the overall smartphone market, they’ve already proven there is a real demand for devices that deliver big screens in compact, pocket-friendly designs. As a result, smartphone makers are pushing the boundaries by packing even bigger displays into compact form factors, with the recently released Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold being one of the most notable examples.

This trend has now caught the attention of gaming handheld maker One-Netbook, which has teased a new device featuring an 8.01-inch folding OLED screen in a retro-inspired, pocketable form. The OneXSugar Wallet features a clamshell design that opens up to reveal a 4:3 panel with a 2480 x 1861 resolution, perfect for retro classics and modern mobile games alike.

The screen is flanked by low-profile joysticks, a D-pad on the left, and four face buttons on the right. The handheld also features dual shoulder triggers on either side and cooling vents on the top and back. According to ITHome, the OneXSugar Wallet will pack a flagship Qualcomm processor, likely a Snapdragon G series chip, though exact details have not been revealed yet.

The console will also offer support for on-the-fly fan speed adjustments, button mapping, and operating power tweaks, along with software optimizations for switching between different screen modes. But there are no details on how these features will work on the production model.

Launch details and pricing are still under wraps

OneXSugar has yet to reveal complete details about the Wallet, stating only that it’s set to arrive next year. Pricing hasn’t been disclosed either, but it’s unlikely to be cheap given the cost of devices with similarly sized foldable displays.

With its retro-inspired, portable design and flagship-grade hardware, the OneXSugar Wallet could redefine what handheld gaming looks like. But One-Netbook will have to nail build quality, performance, and price for it to truly succeed.
