Dubai, UAE:

Union Coop has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its fresh produce offerings across its branches, receiving approximately 29 tonnes of fruits and vegetables daily from local and international sources. Through partnerships with 10 UAE farms and imports from 21 countries, the cooperative aims to ensure consistent product availability, greater variety, and competitive pricing throughout the year.

Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, stated that meeting evolving consumer needs remains a key priority, with particular emphasis on product quality, affordability, and convenience. He noted that the cooperative continues to develop its fresh produce departments to offer shoppers a wider selection of fruits and vegetables while improving accessibility and the overall shopping experience.

Highlighting the cooperative’s support for local agriculture, Al Hashemi explained that Union Coop currently collaborates with 10 UAE-based farms to source fresh produce. These partnerships strengthen relationships with domestic growers, support local agricultural production, and provide consumers with greater access to locally grown fruits and vegetables.

On international sourcing, he noted that Union Coop imports fruits and vegetables from 21 countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, India, Italy, Kenya, New Zealand, Ecuador, the United States, Lebanon, France, Mexico, Egypt, Poland, Uzbekistan, China, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Peru, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia. This diversified sourcing network helps maintain supply stability, accommodate seasonal variations, and meet consumer demand for different varieties of fresh produce.

Al Hashemi further emphasized that Union Coop continues to evaluate opportunities to expand its supplier network and introduce new product varieties. The cooperative also conducts regular assessments of product quality and pricing against prevailing market rates to maintain a balance between affordability and quality.

Concluding, Al Hashemi reiterated that Union Coop remains focused on strengthening its fresh produce operations through strategic sourcing, local agricultural partnerships, and continuous improvements to its product offerings, reinforcing its commitment to delivering quality and value to consumers.
