Your Pixel Watch 4 is getting two more gestures for easier one-handed use

Google introduced a new Raise to Talk gesture with the Pixel Watch 4, allowing users to summon Gemini by simply raising their wrist. Now, the company is bringing two more AI-powered gestures to its smartwatch that will let users do more one-handed.

Google announced the new Double pinch and Wrist turn gestures in a recent blog post, and they will roll out to the Pixel Watch 4 with the December 2025 software update based on Wear OS 6.1. These gestures will allow users to perform different actions, such as scroll through notifications, dismiss notifications, or snooze alarms. Along with the new gestures, the update will bring enhanced Smart Replies that utilize on-device Gemma-based language models to generate replies for Google Messages and more, even when the watch is not connected to a phone.

The Double pinch gesture will require users to tap their index finger and thumb together twice to perform various actions. According to a Pixel Watch community post about the update, this gesture will let users scroll through alerts, send the first Smart Reply, manage the timer and stopwatch, snooze alarms, play/pause music, and snap photos. The gesture will also gain support for answering and ending calls soon.

Users will be able to trigger the Wrist turn gesture by turning their wrist away and back, and it will let them quickly silence incoming calls or close alerting notifications. Both gestures will be enabled by default after users install the December 2025 update on their Pixel Watch 4. To familiarize users with these new gestures, the watch will show helpful hints when the gestures are available to use.

The enhanced Smart Replies will be available on the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4, with Google claiming 2x faster performance and 3x more efficient memory usage thanks to the new on-device model. Google has already started shipping the December 2025 update, and it’s expected to reach all users over the coming weeks. While these new features are limited to the Pixel Watch 3 and 4, the update will also be available for the Pixel Watch 2.
