Volvo’s first EV with Gemini AI integration and a 28-speaker audio system is here

Volvo has announced its latest, all-electric mid-size SUV — the EX60 — as a “game-changer” step in its electric lineup. The EV offers excellent range, fast charging, Google Gemini AI integration, and a premium audio experience that rivals models like the Tesla Model Y and the BMW iX3.

The EX60 sits between the smaller EX40 and the larger three-row EX90 in the automaker’s global lineup, effectively replacing the ICE-powered XC60 as a fully-electric, family-friendly SUV.

Volvo’s most important electric SUV yet

Built on the company’s new SPA3 800-volt electric architecture, the EX60 uses advanced manufacturing techniques (mega casting and cell-to-body battery integration) to reduce weight and boost efficiency.

The EX60 is available in three trim levels: P6 (rear-wheel-drive), P10 (all-wheel-drive with two motors), and P12 (all-wheel-drive with two motors). Out of these, the EX60 P12 features a 117 kWh battery pack that offers up to 400 miles of EPA range (or up to 502 miles of WLTP range).

It’s also the most powerful trim in the lineup, delivering up to 670 hp (500 kW) and 583 lb-ft of torque, which lets it accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. While the P10 gets a 95 kWh battery pack that offers up to 320 miles, the 6 gets an 83 kWh battery pack and promises up to 310 miles.

What’s great is that all the trims get support for 400 kW super-fast charging, enough to charge the battery from 10 to 80% in up to 19 minutes. For reference, the charging speed is enough to get up to 173 miles of cruising range in 10 minutes (to a 400 kW charger).

Inside, the EX60 is the first Volvo to feature Google’s Gemini AI voice assistant, integrated into the infotainment system for natural, conversational control of navigation, media, and other vehicle features. Otherwise, the car features a Scandinavian-inspired interior design focused on comfort.

Another major highlight of the new electric SUV is the 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system. Apart from offering exceptional sound, the car comes with Apple Music pre-installed and Dolby Atmos support. Additional features include the Volvo crash protection powered by the HuginCore engine and a 10-year warranty on the battery.

While Volvo plans to start producing the EX60 P6 and P10 in Sweden by late spring, U.S. buyers should expect deliveries by summer.

The top-specced P12 trim will arrive later. Although the automaker hasn’t confirmed pricing, the mid-specced P10 trim could cost around $60,000, making it very competitive in the tech-rich mid-size electric SUV segment. The higher P12 trim could get a slightly premium price tag.
