Honoring Prof. K.K. Abdul Gaffar: A Legacy in Education

Prof. K.K. Abdul Gaffar ( 06/05/1037 – 05/07/2026) Passes Away

It is with profound grief and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Prof. K.K. Abdul Gaffar, an eminent techno-educationalist, academic leader, consultant engineer, author, and mentor, who passed away peacefully on 5 July 2026.

Prof. Abdul Gaffar dedicated his life to the advancement of engineering education, institutional development, and public service. Over a distinguished career spanning several decades in India and the United Arab Emirates, he inspired generations of students,

educators, and professionals through his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

He served as the Senior Director and Commissioning Lead at Gulf Medical University (formerly Gulf Medical College), Ajman, UAE, where he played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of one of the region’s leading medical universities. He also served as a Consultant Engineer with Saudi Aramco Technical Services Company,

Principal of Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management, Professor and Head of the Department at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, and Professor and Head of the Department at TKM College of Engineering, Kollam.

A respected scholar and accomplished author, Prof. Abdul Gaffar penned the widely acclaimed autobiography “Njan Saakshi “, which was launched by legendary Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

His lifelong contributions to engineering education, academic administration, institutional development, leadership, and nation-building earned him immense respect from colleagues, students, and the wider academic community. His legacy of integrity, humility, and service will continue to inspire generations to come.

He is survived by:

• Mrs. Jameela Schamnad (Wife)

• Dr. Shajir Gaffar (Son)

• Dr. Farida Gaffar (Daughter)

• Dr. Jamalunissa Gaffar (Daughter)

• Er. Shahnaz Gaffar (Daughter)

He also leaves behind numerous relatives, friends, colleagues, students, and admirers who mourn his loss and cherish his remarkable legacy.
