It looks like two new budget-centric Nothing smartphone could arrive soon

The Carl Pei-led smartphone manufacturer Nothing is gearing up to launch two new smartphones: the Phone 4a and the Phone 4a Pro. How do we know that? Well, the handsets have been appearing in various regulatory databases, with the most recent listings from authorities in the UAE and the EU.

First, let’s talk about the cheaper model of the two, the Nothing Phone 4a. It has recently appeared on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) certification database in the UAE. With the model number “A069” (via Gadgets360).

Early clues from global certifications

It could cost around $475 for the variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It’s worth noting that the smartphone also appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website a couple of days ago, indicating that it will be available in India at launch.

On the other hand, the Phone 4a Pro appeared in the EU’s European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) database. The listing confirms a 5,080 mAh battery for the smartphone, with support for 50W wired charging.

According to the EU’s regulatory body, the phone’s battery can withstand 1,400 charge cycles (usage and charging that consume 100% of the battery capacity) before its health falls below 80%.

Both smartphones should be available in the U.S. via Nothing’s Beta Program

While the phone may have an IP65 dust- and water-resistance rating, it only scores a C in the body’s repairability and free-fall reliability tests. The device, carrying the model number “A069P,” has also surfaced in a recent BIS listing.

Unlike the Nothing Phone 4a, the Phone 4a Pro could feature a Snapdragon 7 series chip. Further, it could be priced around $540, making it slightly more expensive than the Phone 3a Pro.

Both the Phone 4a and the Phone 4a Pro could be available in the United States via Nothing’s Beta Program. It doesn’t guarantee full compatibility with U.S. carriers (limited to 4G speeds), but it allows U.S. buyers to experience the latest company smartphones.
