It’s not just you. X (formerly Twitter) is down globally

X, formerly known as Twitter, went down for users globally early Thursday ET.

Anyone opening the social media app across all platforms will find a blank timeline.

It’s not yet clear what has caused the outage or how long it might last.

Don’t Miss

When other social media platforms suffer disruption, X is usually the go-to service for many people wishing to vent their frustrations. But for now, folks are having to turn elsewhere. Comments on Down Detector, a site that monitors the performance of online services and which has confirmed X’s outage, started to appear early Thursday.

“Everybody else’s account acting like it’s the first time you logged in?” said one, while another commented: “My Twitter has completely crashed. Can’t see any posts whatsoever.”

The situation is ongoing. We’ll update this article when more information on the disruption comes to light, or the service returns to normal …
