H.E. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), welcomed H.E. Alberto Alejandro Farje Orna, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the UAE, during his visit to the 16th Sharjah International Publishers Conference, marking Peru’s first participation in the event.
Organised by SBA at Expo Centre Sharjah from 1 to 3 November, the conference brings together 1,433 publishers from 126 countries. During his visit, the Ambassador met participating Peruvian publishers and learned about the conference’s opportunities for professional networking and knowledge exchange across the book industry.
The visit comes as Peru prepares to participate in the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which opens on 4 November.
H.E. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri said: “We welcome the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru and value his country’s participation at this year’s Sharjah International Publishers Conference and Sharjah International Book Fair. Their participation offers opportunities to strengthen cultural cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between our two countries. Following the decades-long vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the leadership of our Chairperson Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, our emirate continues to expand its cultural relations worldwide, reinforcing its position as a meeting place for the world and an international destination for books and publishing.”
H.E. Alberto Alejandro Farje Orna expressed his pleasure at visiting the conference and at Peru’s participation in SIBF, saying: “I am delighted to visit this conference and to see Peru participate in the Sharjah International Book Fair 2026, an important cultural gathering that offers us a valuable opportunity to introduce our rich literary heritage and strengthen cultural relations with the UAE. We are pleased to participate this year with a dedicated pavilion and representatives from our publishing sector. We hope this step will strengthen Peru’s presence and pave the way for broader participation in future editions of this prestigious fair.”
