Samsung Galaxy S27 series could expand to four models with a new “Pro” variant

While the Galaxy S26 series skipped a fourth model, the Galaxy S27 lineup might be getting one of the biggest shake-ups in years. A new report from South Korea’s ETNews, the company is planning on releasing a new model that sits right below the standard and Ultra variants. This new addition will reportedly be called the Galaxy S27 Pro.

Where does the Galaxy S27 Pro sit in Samsung’s flagship line?

Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S27 series as a four-model lineup, moving away from the familiar standard, Plus, and Ultra structure it has used since the Galaxy S20 era. The only exception to this was the Galaxy S25 series, which had the experimental Galaxy S25 Edge. Rumors had initially hinted at the Galaxy S26 family launching with a new Pro variant, but this was not the case. Now, the latest report claims that the next-gen Galaxy S series is getting the new model.

It reportedly sports a 6.47-inch OLED display, which is a screen size Samsung has not used before in the Galaxy S series. This would make it taller than the compact base model, but it’s still smaller than the Galaxy S26+. In other words, the Galaxy S27 Pro would be following the iPhone Pro’s example, with one premium model being smaller than the top-of-the-line model.

Ultra specs minus the S Pen?

The report says the new Pro model is expected to share most of its specifications with the Ultra while dropping pen input support. So we can expect a high-end Snapdragon chip and better camera hardware. However, the Galaxy S Ultra series staple S Pen stylus support is expected to be skipped. This would give buyers more size and feature tiers to choose from. Keep in mind that this is still just an early leak, and Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy S27 lineup. Though the Galaxy S27 Pro could help make the annual refreshes feel more substantial next year.
