Sports Extravaganza: 700 Student-athletes, 40 teams, from schools across the UAE compete in Ajman.

Ajman, UAE – The Royal Academy Ajman has once again proven itself as a premier educational institution in the region, hosting the CBSE UAE Cluster Handball Tournament 2025, the largest and most prestigious of its kind in Ajman. The three-day tournament, which concluded on 22nd June, saw an unprecedented 700 Student-athletes, 40 teams, from schools across the UAE converge on the Royal Academy campus, setting a new record for participation in a CBSE Cluster tournament held in Ajman.

The tournament kicked off with a grand inaugural ceremony on 20th June, with the National Anthem, Quran recitation, and our school band performance. Vice Principal, The Royal Academy, Ajman, Ms. Mary Walter’s warm welcome was followed by a March Past of the teams. It was truly an honour to have Dr. Terry Burwell, with 32 years of experience in Leadership, as our Chief Guest inaugurating the tournament, attended by the North Point Education School Leaders and the Senior Management Team.

The matches were officiated by the CBSE referees ensuring fair play throughout the 3 days, as well as by Tournament Observer who provided expert oversight. The Chief Observer oversaw the matches on the final day. Their presence lent credibility and professionalism to the tournament. Stunning displays of skill, determination, and sportsmanship kept spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

The culmination of the tournament saw the following schools proudly standing as champions:

Under 14 Category:

  • First Place: Eminence Private School, Fujairah
  • Second Place: Metropolitan International Indian School, Ajman

Under 17 Category:

  • First Place: Delhi Private School, Ajman
  • Second Place: Pace International School, Sharjah

Under 19 Category:

  • First Place: City Private School, Ajman
  • Second Place: Indian International School, Dubai Silicon Oasis

The grand finale of the tournament was elevated to new heights by the distinguished presence of Mr. Sujith Koshy Varghese, a visionary Guinness World Record Holder. He is the first Person of Determination (POD) in a wheelchair in the UAE to be recognized as a fully accredited Personal Trainer and is also an official fitness influencer and ambassador for the annual Dubai Fitness Challenge. What a wonderful privilege and a message loud and clear to all that ‘NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE’ to a determined mind. With his charismatic presence, he ignited the stage, inspiring the winners and presenting them with medals and trophies, in a ceremony that will be etched in the memories of all attendees.

The Royal Academy Ajman, an entity of North Point Education (NPE), deserves special mention for its precision planning, impeccable organization, flawless event management and exceptional hospitality, earning praise from all participating schools and visitors alike.

This landmark tournament is a powerful affirmation of The Royal Academy Ajman’s unrelenting commitment to empowering students through athletic excellence, promoting leadership, showcasing its capabilities and excellence in hosting, as an eminent educational hub.

The CBSE UAE Cluster Handball Tournament 2025 has left an enduring legacy, celebrating the pinnacle of athletic achievement, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and The Royal Academy Ajman is already envisioning its next grand event.
